Looking Ahead To July

Man, hard to believe we're almost halfway through the year. I know I've been kind of idle in terms of content these last few months, and I apologize for that. But I appreciate your patience with me as I try to get things together. So, without further ado, here's what I have planned for next month and beyond.

The Blog

General: Admittedly, not a whole lot happens in my life on a regular basis that I feel is blog post worthy. Honestly, I don't think people would want to come here every couple of days to read me complaining about work. But I'm going to try and add posts here on a more regular basis. In fact, I have a couple of concepts I'm going to try out that will hopefully garner the interest of potential readers.

MST Monday: As the title indicates, I'm planning to post recaps of Mystery Science Theatre 3000 episodes on Mondays. I may occasionally post on other days depending on audience interest and my own personal schedule. I'll have plenty of material to choose from since I have 126 episodes in my collection between DVD Box Sets and burned CDs courtesy of a friend of mine from high school. The format of the recaps will include summaries of the movies & shorts, host segments, a comparison of the items offered up in the Invention Exchange, and favorite riffs. If there's anything else that you think I should focus on and discuss in regards to the episodes, don't hesitate to let me know.

An Hour of Music: The idea behind this concept is every so often I'll pull up either Pandora or Slacker Radio on my phone, choose a station, listen to it for an hour straight without skipping any songs and type up my thoughts on what I'm listening to. Posting goal; at least once or twice a week

Random Writing Prompts: A few months ago, I went to a website that had hundreds of writing prompts listed, chose one at random and made a post using the instructions there. I'm going to try and do this again at least a couple of times a month. Have to get the creative juices flowing somehow.

The Vlogs

"Let's Read...": I've been trying to consistently post new episodes of "Let's Read..." on Wednesdays. I'm planning to stick to that posting schedule. If you come across any works of fan fiction online that you think would be a good fit for the show, let me know and send then my way.

The Podcast

General:  As of July, the podcast will return to a weekly format. Next new episode is coming July 1st. All episodes next month are coming to you courtesy of Adam Leone, a good friend of mine who generously donated to allow me to upgrade to a Podomatic PRO account that enables me to have more storage and bandwidth per month. And I'm very thankful for his help because apparently the podcast experienced a jump in popular recently, actually went over it's allotted basic account monthly bandwidth limit and effectively froze out any new downloads. Thanks to his donation, I am able to get back to podcasting post-upgrade instead of waiting until the middle of July for the monthly reset. If you'd be interested in becoming a monthly sponsor for the podcast, simply donate either via the Donate button on this blog page of send a donation via PayPal to dramaguycjm@verizon.net

Interviews Galore: I have a lot of ideas for interviews coming up in this second half of the year, especially as we get closer to November which will mark 5 years since I first appeared as a guest on a podcast. Who do I have planned? You'll just have to stay tuned to find out.

Other

"Jersey Shore" viewing is going to happen. As I mentioned above, my friend Adam made a donation recently. And any donation made goes towards the "Jersey Shore" bounty. So having donated $11, I'll be watching - I mean, suffering through - the first 5 episodes of that show. Seven more dollars will have me finish out the season given my earlier breakdown of $2 per episode. So now that I'm going to subject myself to this program, how should I recap my thoughts; written out as a blog post or an audio segment on the podcast? Please let me know, whichever one gets the most votes will be the recap method of choice.

As always, thanks for reading, watching and listening. Your support is greatly appreciated and I couldn't do any of this without you. Any and all questions, comments, suggestions and feedback are appreciated. Simply e-mail chrismcg1983@gmail.com with any of the above. And don't forget, if you like what I do, feel free to spread the word!

June Concept

I'd been kicking around this concept for a while and decided to finally pull the trigger and go forward with it.

From now until the end of June, I'll be adopting an additional "Cash For Content" model. The idea being that in addition to the videos, blogs and podcasts I have planned for this month, I'll also post about whatever you want me to for the price of a donation. Any amount at all. For as little as $1, I'll take your suggestion and make it into interesting and entertaining content.

Just go to the homepage for this blog - http://dramaguycjm.blogspot.com - and click the Donate button and let me know what you want me to discuss and what medium to use. A blog about the pets I've had? Sure. A video where I discuss TV shows that didn't last beyond one season? I'll do it. A podcast segment where I read from a cookbook? That's an odd option, but if you pay me I'll do it.

I hope you'll consider helping me out in this endeavor. Thanks for your time and I'll see you around.
